Get Alarmed!

Springville Fire Department Participates in the Get Alarmed St. Clair Program to insure that every home has working Smoke Detectors.  New Building and Fire Codes require interconnected smoke detectors on each level of a home, inside each bedroom, and outside each sleeping area.  If your home is not equipped with smoke detectors, or you would like for us to inspect your smoke detectors, please call (205) 467-2703, and we will be happy to schedule a inspection for you.  If you are in need of detectors, we will install battery powered detectors for you at no cost.

Car Seat Inspection and Installation

The Alabama Child Restraint Law of 2006 requires all children under the age of 15 be properly restrained in an automobile traveling of state roadways.

The following guidelines should be followed:

  • Until at least 1 yr or 20 lbs. - restrain in a rear facing infant or rear facing convertible seat
  • Until at least 5 yrs or 40 lbs. - restrain in a convertible, forward facing car seat with internal harness.
  • Until at least 6 yrs. (or until child can sit in the seat with their back against the seat and their feet touch the floor) - restrained in a booster seat to properly align seat belt.
  • Until the age of 15 yrs - restrained in a seat belt.

Springville Fire Department Personnel have received certification through the National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Training Program to properly inspect and install child restraint devices.  We will verify that the seat installed is not currently under any type of safety recall before installation.  To have a seat inspected, or installed come to Station #1 any time between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM seven days a week.
